KMF, THE FAMILY­ COMPANY­

1874

The history of KMF began in 1874 – in other words, 150 years ago – with the founding of Villacher Maschinenfabrik by Josef Anton Egger and Anton Moritsch.

From the very beginning, the company specialised in the manufacture of machines for mining and steelworks, as well as for the sawmill industry. We are proud to be part of this successful history and look forward to developing innovative solutions for our customers in the future.

1874

Founding of Villacher Maschinenfabrik by Josef Anton Egger [1st generation] with partner Anton Moritsch.

1884

The company grows to over 50 employees.

1886

Takeover by Johann Baptist Egger, son of Josef Anton Egger [2nd generation].

1900

Takeover by Othmar Egger I, the younger brother of Johann Baptist Egger [2nd generation].

1907

The company grows to over 100 employees.

1910

Start of series production in boiler construction.

1918

100% of the company is owned by the Egger family.

1931

Takeover by Othmar Egger II and Wilhelm Egger [3rd generation].

1938
Joint venture with Klagenfurter Maschinen­fabrik and Seebacher Maschinen­fabrik to form Kärntner Maschinen­fabriken.
1939

The company grows to over 200 employees.

1940

Start of production of agricultural­ equipment such as ploughs and hay turning devices.

1945

Reconstruction of the ruins of the plant in Villach after the 2nd World War. 

1946
Consolidation of production in Villach and closure of the external production­ sites in Klagenfurt and Seebach.
1958

Start of series production of agricultural­ equipment.

1959

The company grows to over 300 employees.

1960
Awarding of the first manufacturing­ license for plough­ turning­ devices.
1970

Restructuring and beginning of diversification.

1974

100% of the company group is owned by the Egger family.

1978

Takeover by Monika Egger [4th generation].

1980

Restructuring course and radical conversion of production to individual production of plant construction components.

1981

Manufacture of the first vertical agitator ball mill for the “White Minerals” industry.

1981
Management buyout of an industrial­ plant­ construction­ company and integration into KMF Group.
1985

Takeover of a company in the steel and plant construction sector and integration into KMF Group.

1995

Management buyout of an engineering office for thermal technology and integration into KMF Group.

1996

Founding of an internationally operating assembly­ company.

1999

Takeover by Oliver Zlamal, nephew of Monika Egger [5th generation].

2000

Fundamental restructuring and international orientation of the group company.

2005

Founding of KMF Concrete Pumps Asia SDN BHD in Malaysia.

2010
Acquisition of the patents for tilting drum­ furnaces (non-ferrous­ metallurgy).
2013

Participation in a technical office for steel hydraulic construction.

2014

Commissioning of the first agitator­ ball­ mill­ in the “Non-White Minerals” sector.

2021

Joint venture with Swiss Tower Mills Minerals AG for the exclusive production of vertical agitator ball mills.
